Vidnyan Drushti was founded in 2009 by Hemant Lagvankar and Priya Lagvankar with the vision of strengthening science communication and outreach. Bringing together a dedicated group of science communicators and educators, the initiative was created to engage communities—especially those in remote areas—not only through educational activities but also by sparking curiosity, dialogue, and public interest in science.
Our primary goal is to foster a culture of curiosity and scientific thinking by developing impactful public engagement programs. Over the years, what began as a modest effort has grown into a vibrant ecosystem.
Vidnyan Drushti now regularly conducts public lectures, hands-on workshops, and experiential learning projects that help both students and educators build strong conceptual understanding while nurturing a lifelong interest in science.

The programmes offered by Vidnyan Drushti are not designed for monetary gain. Our aim is to promote science for the greater good, which is why we offer these programmes at the most affordable fees possible. In the interest of public outreach and engagement, we also conduct several programmes completely free of cost.

Ongoing Programmes

Thrill with Science:
Vidnyan Drushti offers engaging online science workshops for students of standards 6 to 9. Guided by experienced science communicators, students perform experiments on their own and experience the true thrill of scientific discovery.
These sessions are designed to spark curiosity, encourage hands-on exploration, and make science an exciting, interactive experience.

Join us on a fascinating journey into the world of science—through simple yet interesting experiments and activities using easily available household materials.

Concepts in Science:
A clear understanding of scientific concepts is essential not only for grasping the subject better but also for building a strong foundation for various competitive examinations. To support this, we conduct an online course titled "Concepts in Science", specially designed for school students.

Each course typically includes 30 to 40 interactive online sessions. In addition to conceptual learning, we also conduct online practical sessions and sessions focused on project work, giving students a well-rounded and hands-on learning experience.

Every topic is taught by a subject expert from our team—professionals who have worked at national and international levels in the field of science education. For instance, physics sessions are conducted by experienced physics educators.

In response to requests from schools, we also offer this course in a workshop format—either in full or through selected sessions—conducted on school premises by our expert team members.

Exploring Science through Experiments:

To truly understand science, students must experience it hands-on—and that’s exactly what this workshop offers! "Exploring Science through Experiments", designed by Vidnyan Drushti, is a one-day workshop conducted in schools, aimed at sparking curiosity and strengthening scientific understanding through practical, engaging activities.
Students perform experiments using simple, easily available materials, all aligned with their school curriculum. Guided by expert science communicators, they explore key concepts through direct experience—bridging the gap between theory and practice.

This immersive approach not only deepens conceptual clarity but also helps students develop a genuine interest in science, boosting their confidence and performance in both school and competitive exams. (Click here to see Photographs of all the workshops)

Collaborative programmes

Collaboration with IAPT:
On 29th August 2024, Vidnyan Drushti, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), Mumbai Sub-Regional Council, organized an online talk aimed at creating awareness about the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
The guest speaker for the session was Prof. Mrs. Rekha Ghorpade, General Secretary of IAPT. The session received an overwhelming response, with 380 secondary and higher secondary school teachers from across Maharashtra participating.
The impact of the session was immediate and significant. Inspired by the talk, many teachers took the initiative to register their students for the National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS)—many for the very first time. Feedback and data collected from participants indicated that at least 200 additional student registrations were made by schools that had previously been unaware of this prestigious examination. Collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC):
In collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), UK, Vidnyan Drushti conducted several online workshops in 2023 as part of the Global Battery Experiment initiative. The objective of this activity was to raise awareness about sustainable energy generation and the importance of conserving the environment and natural resources.

Additionally, on 13th December 2022, we organized a one-day Global Battery Experiment Camp at Shivai Balak Mandir School, Dombivli, which saw enthusiastic participation.

In total, over 1,500 students took part in this initiative, gaining a hands-on understanding of electric power and the principles behind battery technology. During these sessions, students built their own battery cells using everyday materials such as coins, metal foil, and cardboard. They tested their batteries using LEDs, and the results of their experiments were uploaded to the official RSC website.
